Anti-Oppression, Equity, & Identity Workshops
We have co-facilitated transformative workshops on power, oppression, privilege, and intersectional identity since 2013 (and even longer as individuals!). Our trainings are grounded in current research, facilitation best practices, self-reflection, and applied exercises.
We guide participants from general awareness of inequality toward meaningful personal and collective action for justice. Our workshops help participants deepen their self-awareness, and develop practical role-based skills and strategies for anti-oppressive practice.
These are general descriptions of some of our most popular workshops, which we customize and adapt for our specific clients.

Frameworks for understanding oppression
Using the 4 I's of oppression and dominance framework, this workshop address how oppression and dominance are internalized, how they impact interpersonal dynamics, and how they operate in institutions. It also explores common ideologies that support oppression and how they contribute to various identity-based stereotypes.
Participants will identify how issues oppression and dominance operate in their workplace.
This workshop is strongly recommended for groups that need to build a shared analysis and language about oppression and privilege.

Microaggressions & Stereotypes
This workshop provides an intensive introduction to common microaggressions related to race, gender, sexual orientation, and disability status. Participants will learn how microaggressions are related to stereotypes, how microaggressions can manifest in clinical settings, and the negative impact on client engagement in services. Through role-plays, participants will practice identifying, responding to, and challenging microaggressions.
This workshop is strongly recommended for groups that need to build a shared analysis of interpersonal dynamics, and supervisors that manage diverse staff.

The workshop addresses intersectional perspectives, including a brief overview of the impact of oppression and dominance on identity development. Anti-Oppressive Clinical Practice
This clinically-focused workshop explores how power dynamics in the participants’ settings influence their work with clients. This workshop will focus on how participants can successfully navigate the dynamics of their setting, manage their own internalized biases, and work from their individual role to have more effective conversations about the intersections of power and marginalization.
The extended version of this workshop provides additional opportunities to explore real life examples of various dynamics, and practice ways to effectively respond. Recommended for groups that have foundational understanding of power, oppression, and privilege.

Anti-Oppressive Clinical Supervision
An intensive introduction to integrating anti-oppressive supervision strategies in the workplace. This workshop addresses how social identities, power, and privilege can be effectively integrated into supervision. This workshop also reviews how trauma-informed supervision practices are also fundamental to anti-oppressive practice.
Participants will be able to define anti-oppressive supervision, identify anti-oppressive strategies they can implement as supervisors and managers, and increase skills at effectively integrating anti-oppressive, trauma informed approaches with staff they supervise. This is an interactive workshop, which utilizes experiential activities, group discussion, reflection, and lecture.
An understanding of basic power, privilege, and oppression concepts are necessary to fully benefit from the training, but we can create a longer workshop incorporating these topics at request.
